to be truly integrative then, means to largely abandon one's religious fervour about any particular method, including any discrete approaches or philosophies which are themselves integrative of other approaches. John Soderlund John Soderlund John Soderlund John Soderlund

5th Scientific PAIP Symposium

"Severed Roots of Psychotherapy.
Shamanism, body, transpersonal experiences, love"

With great pleasure we announce the fifth scientific PAIP symposium was held on 22-24th of January 2010 in Krakow, Poland. The central theme was Detached Roots of Psychotherapy. Shamanism, body, transpersonal experiences, love.

The symposium language is Polish.

Very often psychotherapy (as science and as practice) is thought to have its origin in psychology or in psychiatry and as such to be a product of present times. However, hundreds or thousands of years before Sigmunt Freud there lived people, who were able to solve the problems, which nowadays drive us to psychotherapists. Is it possible? Who they were? What was their method?

The main theme of the upcoming Symposium is, as indicated in the title, the detached roots of psychotherapy. Shamanism, body-work, widely interpreted spirituality are the issues, which do not usually have their place in the main stream of official psychotherapy. From the expositions of our Guests we shall be able to learn more on those fascinating phenomena - and maybe to realise that sometimes we cope with them every day in our studies.

Being aware of our roots gives us the possibility of deriving from the experience of our precursors, widens our horizonts... and gives us wings.
